As always, WordPress based blogs are handy and big time saver. There are a lot of free-to-use plugins which can help you to periodically backup your blog.

This plugin helps you to automatically backup your blog’s database. It periodically stores the database online that you can restore it any time. You can download the backup file from your webhost’s file manager or from the WordPress admin dashboard.
You can also setup the backup frequency like:- Hourly, Weekly, Monthly.
It supports online store (on the specified host path), E-Mail based backup with attachment, Dropbox storage.
Restoring the backup is simple, just follow the below steps:
Click on “Restore Database Backup”
- Login to phpMyAdmin.
- Click Databases and select the database that you will be importing your data into.
- Across the top of the screen will be a row of tabs. Click the Import tab.
- On the next screen will be a location of text file box, and next to that a button named Browse.
- Click Browse. Locate the backup file stored on your computer.
- Click the Go button.

WP Online Backup Plugin.
This is the plugin, I am using it here in BlashO.
This is one of the best plugin which automatically backups the database and also, the complete file system.
That means your blog posts, pages, comments, configurations, images and any other attachments or uploads of your blog – everything will be included. You can configure for a weekly backup and it does the job perfectly. You can choose to backup – only database, only file system or both.
You can also configure the storage location: local storage (on your hosting path), E-Mail attachment.
Apart from automatic backup, you can also quickly do a manual backup. Just click the “Start Manual Backup” button.
As of today, I am still not fully satisfied with these plugins. There are few more premium plugins and services which can do a periodic full backup of your blog. I have to explore further, I will publish a new blog post on it.
Looks like this WPOnlineBackup plugin is no longer active on the WordPress directory, not sure what happened to it.
Anyway, I have shared it here for you. You can download and use it.

If you don’t want to loose your hard work and all your blog content then first, Install a backup plugin like WPOnlineBackup which is free-to-use.
There are a lot of other free plugins I am seeing from the WordPress plugin directory. However, most of them have limited features and you may have to go for a premium version.
