FAQ’s are one of the important section in your blog. Are you offering anything in your blog? then FAQ plays a major role. You may be offering your own product or a service from your blog.
In that case, the Frequently Asked Question section has to contain a lot of information related to your product or service in order to build trust.
Further, it should help your user to understand some of the most frequently asked questions about your offer.
Writing an FAQ is a biggest time saver.
When I developed AffiLinker few years back, I was getting a lot of questions or doubts about the plugin. When someone buys the plugin, I will be receiving emails asking for doubts or clarifications. Most of the time, I felt those were repeated questions.
This saved a lot of time for me.
When I wrote the FAQ page, these are the various points or I call it as “Secrets” that helped me to write a good FAQ page for my product.
1. Write The Basic Problem and Solution.
The very first questions to address in your FAQ are the basic problems.
It should explain what your product or service is offering as a solution – to what kind of problems.
Generally, people who buy from you will be having a problem and your product or service will be the solution. You just write the same here.
This tells the user why they are buying from you and what exactly you are offering them back.
2. List Down The Commonly Asked Questions.
From your past experience, find out what are all the questions that were frequently asked to you about the product or service.
You can simply, scan through your old emails or support tickets and find out all those questions.
By doing this, you can cut down the new queries by more than 50%.
3. Questions Related to Issues/Problems.
This has to be an ongoing activity.
Whenever, you encounter any new issues with your user especially in using your product, you can update the FAQ for it.
By doing like this, there are more chances that other users may find it useful. You can also update the FAQ with hacks/suggestions for those issues.
4. The Functional Impacts & Dependencies.
One of the important things is mentioning about the functional dependencies and impacts if any.
For example, the minimum version of a software or a server required for your product to run.
This is a simple question that everyone will be having in their mind.
Write about it.
5. Show Images/Videos Wherever Required.
Help videos or screenshots are always great.
It speaks by itself.
You can capture a video of your running product and explain its functionalities.
6. Mention about Known Issues & Limitations.
It is also a good practice to explain the known issues.
This helps to show that you are open-minded and willing to accept issues.
It naturally builds trust.
Further, you can also mention any limitations of your product or service.
This helps to avoid any misconceptions related to the offers.
Conclusion on Writing a Good FAQ.
