A featured image is a picture that can be associated with the post published on the website. It is a thumbnail associated with the post. Even when the post is shared, the thumbnail will be visible. It can be used to give an identity to the post.
If it is a good featured image, it can increase recognition and build a reputation.
Featured images are a part of themes. To check if your theme supports featured images, you can create a new post and check if there is a link for setting up a featured image as shown below:
You can click on that link “Set featured image” and upload a file to set up the featured image for your post. A default image can also be set up so that if the post does not have a featured image, the default image will be displayed. Multiple images can be uploaded to the blog and the user can select any one of them as the featured image for the post.
The featured image’s size, style, and visibility can be customized by adding code to the functions.php file.
