With dreams in mind many individuals are getting into the world of online business especially in seeking financial freedom in their life. Expectations are in terms of money and increasing the monthly income of an individual. When you are already into this world, as a beginner you will be facing too many hurdles in each step of online business. Its not just about working to earn, there are people who are passionate about what they are willing to do online. They want a place in Internet to prove their expertness and success, apart from making revenue.

When i started this blog, i never thought of financial freedom and even started with a passion. Later days rolled and this became a passion for me. I started writing about, what i read about online business ? what i experience about online business ? and what i see about it ? I branched about new blogs on other topics of my own interests too….

As a result, i started thinking this blog as a journey and going along with it… Today, i want to share few basic strategies which are involved in building a successful online business. Success, i mean both financially as well as what you passionate about.

Implementing Unique Ideas.

What i have learned ? is that Ideas are the base of success. For any business, even for an offline business to work out the best, it should be driven by an idea. Internet is so dynamic and evolves every day. When you are able to implement an idea which is unique, you will become the winner. It is not so tough to get an unique idea in mind. If you think something silly, it may become an unique idea.

  • The only requirement here is, how far you are able to satisfy a user ? How well you are able to help the user ? How do you solve a particular problem ?

When your idea strikes that solution, it becomes a hit in the market. There are many successful people who had implemented their silly ideas which made huge revenue. The article here, lists down few of the silly ideas which made millions. Its worth to read once.

Sometimes, you may get great ideas but you may not know how to implement it ? This happens to many people especially to non-techies who are willing to do an online business but don’t know how to solve real practical problems ? or even how to implement it ?

What i want to tell here is, define yourself first. What do you know ? what do you don’t know ? and more important whats your capability ? This helps you to define the best work strategy for yourself. It helps you to understand what do you need ? Either to hire some one to get the work done or what to learn for solving it yourself ?

It makes sense, right ?

Adding Value To Users.

The success of every business depends on, how well it adds value to the user. Users (visitors) are the source of your online business and its the game of playing around with them. Whatever you do, it becomes a business only when you are adding value to people. Its like bringing the people in sync to your business and what you serve them !

The very first thing comes to my mind is the “Right Audience”. Showing your business to the right audience is the most important factor. You have something in hand and when you show it to the right people, it becomes the business. What you show to them will get accepted, only when it adds value.

Valuable stuffs are never ignored by people. They love it, appreciate it, own it. They will come back to you again. This is a general fact applicable for an online business too.

Now the question comes, how do you add value to the users ? There are many ways to add value to your users like solving their problems, giving tips, providing an online tool/service, a piece of software teaching a stuff from scratch (an ebook) and many….Even when a tiny problem is address by your business, its great !

Secondly, the Volume of audience matters. I mean the market and its scope plays a major role here. When you are able to do a business on a hot market, you may get huge number of visitors/users. At the same time, an unknown market may not provide you that much profits as expected. You have to research a lot in finding such profitable markets where you could find more people (even considering the competitions involved).

Its the Demand and Supply Model. When you are able to serve the people in a highly demanding market that’s the best part of it. Understand the basics of demand & supply….its an interesting topic. It also depends on how the market fluctuates because they are almost proportional to each other.

The value of the service that you offer and the volume of audience decides the success.

Its not so easy to make such a situation suddenly. Don’t take me wrong, you may need a bit of luck too ;) There are times where you could not bring out your idea into action or even it may not pick up suddenly in the market once launched. It takes times to heat up.

At the same time, no one will come to you. You have to promote. You have to market your business the best so that you could create such profitable situations. There comes effective online business marketing !

Effective Marketing.

Marketing a business involves lot of effort and ideas. Every business needs marketing front to take towards the next level or at least to survey in the life time. Without marketing your business, you could not reveal the benefits of it. When it comes to online business, marketing involves driving huge volume of targeted visitors as well attracting them. It is required to present every thing uniquely as well as branded uniquely in front of them.

Branding plays a vital role in marketing your business. It actually helps every visitor to remind your business anytime. Statistics says, people stay in a web site less than a minute (in fact, only few seconds) and keep in mind that you have to attract in that short period. A professionally built web site design and the content which clearly tells the purpose of your business are really required as part of branding.

Marketing online is more about creating exposure to your business or a website. The more you spread, it gains more attraction. The old style web marketing are still working (simply, by link spreading) at the same time, you should not miss the latest trends of marketing. Always learn to use the marketing tools which are top in the market. It is true that technology evolves every day and we have to go along with it to survey.

  • Today the strategy that you apply may work and it may not work for tomorrow. You have to constantly evolve along with the technology. You know Internet is so dynamic and we have to act dynamic too.

Marketing an online business takes time because its a slow process especially in the earlier stage of your business. Once it gained a certain level of success, it grows viral. In general, both good as well as bad thing spreads faster in Internet.

  • When you are recognized by the people, it goes viral. That means it markets by itself. Only thing, you have to work hard (or smarter) to reach that comfort level.

As i mentioned earlier, ideas are the source. When you are implementing an unique idea (profitable one), it pick ups faster more than you expect. That’s the greatest opportunity of Internet marketing. Again, marketing is a process which goes through out the life cycle of your business. Hence your marketing efforts should also go through out the business life. Your business has to survey, it has to grow, it has to win and consistency in everything is the key to achieve them.

Being Consistent/Persistent.

Its quite natural behavior of a human being, “no being consistent/persistent”. People do start an online business, they will have big dreams and they will work hard. The problem is, they could not continue the work longer. Having more expectations (esp. in making money), seeking quicker results are few of the reasons for this failure (more here).

Like a real world business, business over Internet needs almost the same effort and work. Having more expectations especially in the start up stage kills the productivity. Some people get into the mode of “trial and error”, they continue that strategy till they succeed. I am not telling you to get into that mode instead, have reasonable expectations.

  • All you have to do, forecast your business and its growth.Based on that define your expectations.

Similarly, quicker results won’t happen because here the business involves so many people (i mean visitors) and how they interact with you. Its audience based business, right ? So you could not expect anything to happen suddenly.

Secondly, as mentioned earlier picking up your business takes time and definitely, you have to wait for the results. Its not a “push and instantly get model”, “its push then wait and get model”.

What i want to say here is, define your growth strategy and be consistent with it. Do it persistently till you succeed. Not all days are same, you have to employ different work model for your business based on the situations. There comes growth strategy which involves how do you want to grow your business? Define it and continue till you succeed. When it fails, employ a different strategy, that’s called “Experimentation”. Always keep in mind that consistency and persistent are crucial for a business to grow.

Experimentation & Results.

In business, there are two “standing” zones: the comfort zone and the risk zone.

  • Comfort zone is where you won’t do any experiments and you are okay with what you are doing.
  • And risk zone is where you do more experiments (than usual) and you always want to explore “everything”.
  • Your growth depends on where you stand ? and how you stand ? You could not stay in the comfort zone always and similarly, you could not stay in the risk zone always.
  • You have to maintain a balance here by going into risk zone as well as going into the comfort zone.

Take reasonable risks and do “worthily” experiments only.

  • Measure the results of your experiments and tweak your strategy. Continue this process. Over a period of time, you will stand in the balanced zone between comfort and risk. That means you are nearing success. Experiments are part of every business and without experimentation you could not derive the “best working strategies”.

When you do experiments, you could explore new things and directly you will gain experience in business. This gives the strength for yourself to take wise decisions in each stage of your business.

Finally, what are the practical requirements ?

Final Light...We discussed too much, now you may think what is really required at last ? The success of an online business depends on too many factors and it even depends on individuals capability. In practical, for an online business to succeed all you need is, “value to users” and “huge targeted traffic”.

Without traffic, you could not show your value to visitors and without value you could not show anything to huge visitors.

Both Value and Traffic are tied together. Have milestones in achieving them. If you are beginner, never expect to reach every milestones in short time. Take time, understand, do the best, definitely you will reach the milestones.

Once you are able to drive huge traffic as well as when your value helps the people, you are done almost. Profit rolls in, your brand value increases and your business goes viral. At the same time, learn to address technical problems with your own hand or at least with someones help.

To build a successful online business for sure, you have to sit and work at least in a smarter way…..
